Journey

I wished I could say I understood what was going on here, but that wasn’t the case.

Hawk and Garrison?

All along, I’d been wondering about Hawk and Creed, only to learn that there was another relationship to contend with. This was not at all how I expected this conversation to go. I figured Hawk would enlighten me when the time came by telling me he’d been with Creed at one point, but they had moved past that.

They hadn’t; I was sure of it. Which only complicated this even more.

“Journey, talk to me, baby,” Hawk pleaded.

I could see the concern in his eyes. Or maybe that was fear; I couldn’t be sure. It didn’t matter because I was so confused I didn’t know how to respond. All this time, I thought Hawk had been with Creed, and now they were telling me that was only part of the story. Not only was Hawk in love with me, but he was also in love with Garrison. And probably Creed, too. Okay, definitely Creed.

And then there were my feelings to contend with. I was also in love with Garrison and Creed, and I had feelings for Nick, although no one was privy to that information since it was only a recent revelation.

“This doesn’t change anything,” Garrison stated, his countenance completely shut down.

“It changes everything,” I told him abruptly. “Everything.”

“How?”

“Well, for starters...” I glanced between them, trying to organize my thoughts. “I don’t even know what to say.”

“There’s nothing to say,” Hawk said through gritted teeth. “We want to be with you, Journey.”

Based on the look on Garrison's face, he wasn’t entirely on board with Hawk’s statement, and that was what bothered me most. Was he having second thoughts? Or had he fallen in love with Hawk and realized he was the only person he needed?

Oh, man.

What I wanted to do was bolt from the room. Hide out somewhere for a little while to figure this out. But if I did that, chances were good they’d think I was disgusted by their intimacy. I wasn’t. I didn’t care about that. Not even a little. What I cared about was how their feelings for each other could change the very foundation of what we had. It was selfish, I knew, but it couldn’t be helped. I went into this believing I was the only romantic interest for all of them. They had even promised me. Sure, it was unconventional, but it worked as far as I could tell.

But this revelation of theirs ... it explained so much. I’d seen the looks they shared and felt the tension in Hawk whenever Garrison was around. It never crossed my mind that they were intimately involved with one another. Perhaps even romantically. I wasn’t with them all the time. I didn’t know what they did when I wasn’t around.

“Maybe it’s best if I leave,” Garrison said softly.

My gaze darted to him. “No. You don’t get to walk away from this.”

“I don’t want to confuse matters.”

I noticed Hawk’s shoulders slumped, his head hanging down as he kneeled in front of me.
